It is good that you didn't seen pests a while.
Pests live on their host plants or in protected areas. On Plants: Aphids, caterpillars, beetles, and mites are on leaves and stems. Squash bugs cluster under leaves. In Soil: Grubs, cutworms, and nematodes live in the soil and attack roots. Ant hills and termite mud tubes are visible on the ground or foundation. Under Debris: Slugs, snails, earwigs, and sowbugs hide under mulch, rocks, logs, and leaf piles. Near Structures: Termites swarm near light sources. Mosquitoes breed in standing water (bird baths, clogged gutters). Ticks are in tall grass and shrubs. |
