The Dutch Bucket (Bato) system is ideal for growing larger crops like tomatoes and cucumbers. Each plant grows in its own bucket with drip-fed nutrients, and excess solution drains back to a common line.
It offers good root aeration, easy maintenance, and is simple to scale. Just monitor pH, EC, and ensure proper drainage slope for best results.

It can be better than some basic hydroponic setups because each plant has its own bucket, giving better root aeration and more control over individual plants.
Some advantages: Good root aeration Easy to manage individual plants Scalable setup (add more buckets anytime) Suitable for greenhouse or terrace setups Just make sure: Proper slope is given to the drain line EC and pH are monitored regularly Drippers are cleaned to avoid clogging Overall, it's a simple and reliable hydroponic system, especially for fruiting crops. |
